AUSTIN (KXAN) — Dangerous heat will continue to build across Central Texas through the remainder of the holiday weekend. Afternoon heat index values could be as high as 115! Be sure to drink plenty of water, take breaks and never leave kids or pets in a parked vehicle! We may begin to see some slightly cooler temperatures and some chances for rain beginning on Monday, and those chances may continue into next weekend.
Record heat possible this weekend
The forecast Sunday and Memorial Day will be in the upper 90s to near 100.
The records for the holiday weekend afternoons are:
99° in 2018 Sunday
100° in 2011 Monday
Our Sunday high temperature forecast is for a record-breaking 100°!
June begins one week from today. The Climate Prediction Center is looking at a wet weather pattern setting up for the first week.
Temperatures for the start of the sixth month are forecast to be Above Normal.
